We had a Thomas the train theme birthday party for our 2 year old son. When Matt’s third birthday approached, he made it known that he wanted a Thomas train cake. I'm looked for a bakery preferrably in my neighbourhood including Albertsons and Ralphs but could not found one. So, I decided to attempt to make our own Thomas train cake. I did little search on the internet to get some basic idea.

``I am only an average baker but it can be done pretty easily. I just make a large flat cake and then using an enlarged picture of Thomas, cut out the right shape. Lots of blue frosting and some detail work with white and chocolate and it is a good enough job to make a little one happy. I also have a pan which makes an engine cake which is three dimensional and stands up. You can also use the edible cake decoration made from real icing readily available in the super market.
