My sons 5th birthday party at the Railroaders Museum
By:  Gwen Gummo   Location:  Web Submission

This year we are having my sons 5th birthday party at the Railroaders Museum, they have a Thomas the Train Playroom. Since we are paying to rent the room, we didn't want to spend a lot on other items. So for giftbags, I went to a discount material store and found Thomas material and made my own giftbags. Made large half a sheet of paper tickets to send out as invitations. Cut the edges of the paper to resemble a real ticket. Then when the children enter, I will give them a gift bag and with a name tags we will write their name on their bag. I went to other discounted stores for pencils, train whistles, hats and other gift goodies. I also went to a craft store, during a big sale and bought wooden train pieces, that the children can decorate with markers and stickers and we will put magnets on the back, so they can hang it up when they get home. I also printed Thomas pictures off the Thomas webpage for the children to color. I am going to make Train cookies, (easier to clean cookie crumbs than cake icing) sprinkled with blue, red, and green sugar. The Museum has a large Thomas train, that I plan on taking each child's picture with and sending it to them in the mail as a Thank you note. The Museum also has train tracks and trains for the children to play with, plus a TV, where we will showing Thomas movies. Of course we have to include several games. I am going to make train tracks on the floor and blind fold each child, spin them in a circle and tell them to chug down the train track. We will mark them and see who can go the farthest, then give each child a prize and tell them to put it in their bag. Then we are building a train out of boxes, then having the children throw in a bouncy ball. They get to keep the bouncy ball as a prize! This party is going to be a blast!
